Years from now we'll look back on this as a classic!
24 was one of my favorite shows growing up. It was absolutely ahead of its time when it came out and is still great today. No show at the time had you at the edge of your seat every episode quite like 24. The 24 hour clock was so original at the time. This was a a show where every season not only had the great Jack Bauer as the hero but every season had a great villain too. There were also so many twists and turns that it would have you guessing what what happen next. This is a show that will hook you right from the beginning and keep you entertained every episode of every season. This truly is a one of a kind show with non stop action.
I haven't watched every single TV show out there but I've watched more than a fair share (GoT, The Sopranos, The Wire, Six Feet Under, Deadwood, Breaking Bad, House, The Shield, Dexter, Lost, Justified, Prison Break, Mad Men, Walking Dead, House of Cards and a few others) and this reamins my favorite of them all. Great premise, top acting, superb action scenes, etc. The only flaw is they started recycling plots and storylines at one point but that was after years of incredible quality. Must-watch.
A creative and revolutionary television program that could best be described as "High Noon" for the 21st Century X and Y generational groups starved for cinema-like ideas and executions. "24" (representing the number of hours in a day) runs an hour a week, in real time, and advances to a staggering climax as an anti-terrorist specialist (Kiefer Sutherland) races against the clock to save the day. Assassination attempts, germ warfare and anti-American enemies are constant obstacles for Sutherland, daughter Elisha Cuthbert, president Dennis Haysbert and an innumerable cast of others. Regulars come and go, guest stars make lasting impressions and cliff-hanger sequences will leave you gasping for air and possibly grasping your chest to calm your heart down. So many things happen over the course of one day on this show (you would not believe everything that goes on over such a short period of time) that it is sometimes hard to remember everything and at times many situations are trivial anyway (there is so much time to fill that it is near impossible to make every minute count). Sutherland and Haysbert (who made their names on the big screen) are top-flight performers and they prove to be the biggest assets. Excellent direction and good scripts (for the most part) have lingering effects on the audience as the clock ticks and tocks to a mind-numbing finale each season. 4.5 out of 5 stars.
For me, this is best TV series ever made. No other series has ever left me longing for the next episode, with pretty much every episode ending on a cliffhanger.
The concept of each episode being an hour in the day is clever, unique, and ultimately is what makes this show stand out from others.
Tony Almeida and David Palmer are fantastic characters, but of course the lead role - Jack Bauer - is brilliant played by Kiefer Sutherland.
The first 4 seasons are exceptional. The 5th less so, but still very good. It does get a little OTT and daft as we get to 6, 7 and 8, however here we are 14 years after season 8 and there's not much I'd like more to see Kiefer roll the dice one more time.
I must have watched each season a dozen times and I'll probably watch them a dozen more in the future. It doesn't feel dated either, even though Kiefer is no longer the 35-40 year old CTU agent.
An absolute must watch for anyone who likes action, drama, suspense, plot twists and more.

- QuizAll cast members were required to have their hair trimmed every five days.
- BlooperMany times Jack and others are seen stealing a car by quickly reaching under the dashboard to yank down some wires and intermittently sparking them together to make the engine start. This is impossible on many levels. Beginning in the mid nineties with the introduction of 2nd generation on board diagnostics (OBD II) all cars have theft protection that requires electronic input from the key or the computer will either shut down the fuel injection or not allow the starter motor to engage. Only a manufacturer's program (or a black market version) through the scan tool connector could bypass this. On an older car you would still have to remove the panel below the steering column (several screws) and even then the wires from the key lock and other controls are tightly molded together in bundles requiring a razor knife to separate and strip them. You would then have to connect constant power to the ignition (distributor or coil pack) and then hold the wire to the starter motor together with power for the entire time the engine needs to crank to start until releasing it, not just arcing it a couple of times.

Jack Bauer: The only reason that you're conscious right now is because I don't want to carry you.
- Curiosità sui creditiEach episode of the show opens with a title screen and Kiefer Sutherland's voice-over saying "The following takes place between (hour) and (hour)" However, the first season of the show had a slightly longer intro, adding "...on the day of the California Presidential Primary." In addition, various episodes have featured the "Events Occur in Real Time" title.
- Versioni alternativeIn the UK, the show was broadcast on BBC 2. The BBC does not run commercials during programming. Because of this, the episodes do not run in "real time". To account for this, every episode cuts out the opening line, "Events occur in real time".
