The first season was good but season 2 I don't even know where to begin. First off Tom is the absolute most dimwitted human being. Fiona literally made my flesh crawl off my bones. The other players are so clueless and insist on repeatedly lying about everything. I can honestly say this series frustrated me so bad mostly the Fiona thing. Oh dear God this is the creepiest storyline in a drama series I've ever watched. I actually had a soft spot for Claudie and her siblings. Liam was a complete sweetheart and Claudie really did love George to bits. Anna and Sarah were horrible to Claudie from the off. Claudie was actually just defending her ground the only way she knew how. If you want anger and flesh crawling ick this is the series for you.
What a waste of some good actors' skills and time. This series began with such promise. Season 1 was fair to middling, with just enough to create interest in watching Season 2. However, Season 2 rapidly declined into something close to absolute farce! The various plots became so ridiculous which in turn dragged the reputations of the otherwise good actors down with them. The script got worse and the idea that intelligent, highly-qualified V
vets could behave so stupidly, was totally ridiculous! The scenery was beautiful, some of the music was ok but sadly, I feel obliged to warn people not to waste their time on this truly disappointing, totally unrealistic TV series.
I am always on the lookout for new shows to watch on Acorn. The British do great dramas so this one looked interesting. I thought this would be a modern version of all creatures great and small. As I moved through series 1 I quickly realized the writers wanted to keep the drama up to Defcon 1 on a continuous basis. The amount of dysfunctional and immature and over emotional story lines between all family members, staff and friends makes me wonder that they should all be in therapy, especially the children. Many characters have no moral compass or integrity. I think the writers tried to squeeze in too many story lines that clipped through at such a fast pace that it doesn't leave any time for the watcher to rest. Maybe they knew they only had two seasons to squeeze it all in. And forget any solid relationships. Someone will cheat or lie real soon. Very frustrating.
This series would put many of the old daytime soap operas to shame! The whole village is rife with one illicit affair after another and the featured family is no exception. Unfortunately, probably a lot of realism with everyday life in rural England as it is in rural America or probably many countries. Just forget all the various simultaneous dramas going on and view it as a comedic "what's next" and the series takes on a whole new perspective. No, this much utter craziness probably doesn't exist in many families thankfully and it's a wonder we don't see more of the characters punching each other out. Just go with the flow and it's entertaining; expect it to make sense and you won't like it.
I was so set to enjoy this show on Acorn - love the locale and seemed like a good plot. So disappointed. The overdone drama, goes from one crisis to the next in a matter of seconds - tiresome to the point of becoming comical. The acting is mediocre. Can't believe this was given a Season 2.
I managed to get through First Season, 3 episodes and just couldn't manage the rest. All Creatures Great and Small it ain't. There are too many crisis going at one time so hard to keep track of exactly what is happening.
Overall this reminds me of a cheesy soap opera and that believe it not, is a stretch. Acorn usually has great shows but this was not one of them.
