Sometimes IMDb's comments are quite excessive, you get 10 stars, then another one put 1 star. Most of the time, it worth to watch the movie anyways. But this one.. If you are going to watch this movie, don't expect too much from it. Poor poor poor special effects and discussable acting. It looks like the 80's movies.. This could've been an awesome movie and that's the only reason why I give it 6 stars. With more money and more time, this could've been something awesome! Anyways there is worst, there is better. It's just sad that the producer ain't got a bigger budget. Nevertheless it still worth watching it, just don't expect special effects with high realism or to see your favourite actor.
It's probably exactly what you expect..Rarely do films actually 'Surprise!' you these days...with all the hype given to any movie (regardless of how odd or bad) with a large budget, you get an idea of the movie...especially after a few reviews, what your friends say, and so on and so on....Well the same goes for these movies...the one's you 'Don't' hear about...You don't see the 'stars making the rounds on all thee late night talk shows, promoting their newest flick (& always pretending they have 'no-idea' what the clip is they brought with them)...So these films end up in the usual places...the bargain bins, the blockplaces will have a single copy (usually) and then there's Redbox...who unlike most places, let's you know upfront they have a mixture of the the best movies as they're released and tell you honestly that they have some genuine 'B'- movies...So, yeah, rent this one if you like sci-fi flicks, realizing it was done on a less than stellar budget and cut everyone involved with it some slack...The great thing about it is 'You might just find a real gem' among the 'B'-Movies available, but don't expect it...This has some good points and some low spots...But then again, keep in mind it had a 'B' budget too...
Rarely do I review movies but in this case I felt compelled to warn others. The movie began promisingly enough but rapidly lost itself in a convoluted plot that built up to an anti-climax. The premise for the movie could have been used to much greater effect, I felt like about 3/4 the way into the movie it became very rushed and the climax (if you could call it that) left me disappointed. The special effects, while not great, were interesting and the costumes were quite stunning. The acting was a bit corny but I did like the leading character until the very end when the whole movie dropped itself into the toilet. Stay away at all costs!
I do enjoy Sci-Fi movies when they're done right. Humanity's End did have some good ideas going for it, and is a better movie than I expected it to be if suffering from some very big problems. Technically it's not too bad, I've seen far worse looking films especially from The Asylum. The sets are colourful, the galactic backgrounds are wholly convincing, the ships, their interiors and the planets look cool and the photography is not too choppy. The film at least has some kind of pace(if not particularly exciting), it starts very promisingly and the females are very cute and sexy. Unfortunately while there are far worse out there, the graphics can be quite bad, the nephalium fleet doesn't look remotely convincing and the movements can look unnatural. The explosions are too diluted and somewhat outdated as well. The acting is not particularly good either, the sexiness of the females isn't enough to disguise their blandness and the lead, especially his voice, is really annoying. Their characters don't engage at all, and often act like idiots. But what really sinks Humanity's End is how poor the writing is. The script is made up too much of cheesy humour and jargon that definitely sounds made up which confuses things significantly. The story has some good ideas, that are either never expanded upon or don't make any sense and there isn't really much of a structure either. Overall, decent to look at but poorly written, had much potential but could've been much better. 4/10 Bethany Cox
This movie is kind of entertaining for the sci-fi fan. It has many references to other Sci-Fi creations, including Star Trek, Star Wars, Stargate, Battle Star Galatcia and Dune. In fact the film must assume many of the users are familiar with many of these Stories as elements of each are used throughout. For instance Stargates are used both with no explanation of what for. The film is scattered with cheesy humor, that gives it much charm. The start of the movie features a 5+ minute prologue, which in part seems to be put in to extend the movie length. Don't see it to be blown away by special effects. See it when you are in the mood for some grade B Sci-fi.
