Star Trek: Strange New Worlds will be phased-out with a fifth season.

Paramount+ announced the series has been renewed for a fifth season which will consist of six episodes. The season will also be the show’s last.

“From the very beginning, Strange New Worlds set out to honor what Star Trek has always stood for — boundless curiosity, hope and the belief that a better future is possible,” said executive producers Akiva Goldsman, Henry Alonso Myers and Alex Kurtzman in a joint statement. “We’re deeply grateful to Paramount+ for the chance to complete our five-season mission, just as we envisioned it, alongside our extraordinary cast and crew. A new drama produced by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson that’s set in the “cutthroat, high-stakes, cash-rich, world of British boxing” has been ordered to series at Starz.

The eight-episode show is described as “a gripping story of redemption, betrayal, and brutal ambition in and out of the ring.” It marks the latest project in Starz’s ongoing partnership with Jackson, who produces the hit “Power” franchise for the network.

Per Starz’s logline for the crime drama, “Fightland” follows a disgraced, formerly incarcerated boxing champion who returns to London to seek vengeance against the crime family he thinks betrayed him.

Prime Video’s “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” has added three cast members to its upcoming third season: Andrew Richardson, Zubin Varla and Adam Young. Richardson will be a series regular, while Varla and Young will appear in recurring roles.

Richardson, a British actor with an extensive resume of stage roles, previously appeared in films such as “Daughter of the Bride,” “The Independent,” “Jack London’s Martin Eden” and “Killer Among Us.” His television credits include “Extraplotations,” “Fantasy Island” and “The Last O.G.”

Taylor Tomlinson hosted the final episode of After Midnight on Thursday (June 12), where she spoke of how grateful she was for the opportunity and how disappointed she was that CBS isn’t replacing her with a new host. The comedian explained to viewers how she decided to step away from the show to focus on her stand-up career, and in doing so, CBS chose to end After Midnight rather than continue with a new host. “It was my dream that I would get to finish out this season and hand it off to a new host,” she said. “I really wanted CBS to replace me.” After Midnight premiered on January 17, 2024, as a replacement for The Late Late Show, which ended after James Corden stepped down as host. Based on the Comedy Central show @midnight, the show saw a panel of comedians playing games and discussing hot topics to earn points.

The Adult Animation Spotlight panel between Warner Bros. Animation and Adult Swim at Annecy Animation Festival summarized a number of titles in the overlap between the two studios, including the Anderson Entertainment collaboration “Hit Squad.”
