I wouldn't call this a brilliant movie, but it certainly kept me watching from start to finish. Michelle Rodriguez's character is replaced by another kick-arse heroine to work alongside Jovovich's Alice. There's also a new super-evil dude to contend with. Naturally the biggest baddies of all are the people who work for the Umbrella corporation! And, man, those zombie dogs are just freaky!
In this movie we get to know a bit more about how the T-Virus came to be, and get a new perspective on how it can be used for good and not just bad. Naturally, though, it's mostly all bad!
As usual, there's a lot of action and a lot of death. And the Umbrella Corporation sure is good at twisting the facts of the truth. I'm intrigued to know what happens next.
So I'm ready to watch movie #3.

Resident Evil: Apocalypse is a kick-ass action flick but when i first watched it on video way back in early 2000's i didn't like it. Now in 2022 I've watched it again & think it's Awesome!!!
Apocalypse isn't as good as the first film but it's still a damn good sequel & companion piece to that film.
The Apocalyptic scale of Raccoon City promised at the end of the first film is on full display here. The city is in a panic & the corrupted Umbrella company is locking everything down & locking everyone in. The virus has spread from the reopening of The Hive & our hero Alice (Milla Jovivich) is on the hunt. Jovovich is Awesome again in her "Ripley" type of role & gets to team up with other survivors including some left-behind S. T. A. R. S soldiers & what we get is a group of survivors trying to make their way to safety & rescue a young girl lost in the chaos.
The action scenes are well done with cool kick-ass stunts & slick feel to it all. The atmosphere is done well with a blueish look to everything & with a mist & rain it has a nice Horror film feel & look. There's plenty of Zombie action & the cool looking Nemesis creature that is like a big mutant Terminator & looks Awesome.
Mike Epps (Next Friday) is pretty fun as one of the group & has fun in his role.
Apocalypse is just a damn good fun action-packed ride, a fun late-night movie ride.

*SPOILER ALERT* *SPOILER ALERT*
Lethal megababe Alice, (Milla Jovovich), is back. The Hive gets reopened for some reason. The zombies take advantage of the human's blunder and pour out into Racoon City. Alice and another hot chick decide to bring the war to the zombies. The rest of the movie is one long fight scene with zombie dogs, slobbering creatures and a big monster with a rocket launcher all wanting to waste the killer babe squad.
While "Resident Evil 2" is light on plot, it is heavy on kills, explosions and various other forms of mayhem. I definitely felt I got my money's worth. There are really only two differences between this movie and the original "Resident Evil". One, this movie introduces a new monster, the Nemesis. It's a big monster with bad teeth wearing an overcoat and wielding a rocket launcher. The other difference is that they added another hot woman to the zombie killing mix. Alice needed some babe backup. Overall, I was pleased with this one. It's worth a look.

Resident Evil Apocalypse is not a bad follow up to the action packed original. The story picks up right where the first movie left off but also introduces new characters Jill Valentine and Carlos Olivera. The zombie outbreak is now overtaking Raccoon City and the government along with the Umbrella Corporation is detaining the citizens while trying to cover up the truth. My favorite part of this movie is the realistic depiction of all-out war with the undead as the police and army try to hold off an ever growing horde of zombies lumbering toward the city. This film has great special effects, action-packed battle scenes and halfway decent acting; all of which make up for a predictable plot line and an overall lack of gore. If you enjoyed the first Resident Evil I recommend checking out the second installment as well. I'm sure you'll find it pretty entertaining.
A film that directly continues the first part of the saga known as Resident Evil.
The casting is excellent, Sienna Guillory is the right choice for the role of Jill Valentine. Alice, Jill and Carlos fight not only against time, but also against a formidable opponent called Nemesis.
Nemesis looks great, quite sinister and scary. The make-up and special effects team did a great job.
The film is solidly directed, although the fight scenes could have been better, but overall it's not bad at all. Carlos Olivera is a fun character, Oded Fehr portrayed him excellently.
Milla Jovovich is always excellent as Alice.
What is specific about these kinds of films, and especially about this Resident Evil franchise, is that you can watch it many times, and each time it is more fun. It is designed to entertain the viewer and it certainly succeeds in that.
The movie is definitely worth watching, it's fun, with solid action and a tense plot.

- TriviaThe suit for Nemesis weighed in excess of 60 pounds. Stuntman Matthew G. Taylor could only stay in it for periods of up to 15 minutes before it got too hot.
- GoofsThere is no possibility that the T-Virus can effect the bodies in the cemetery. As stated in the first movie, the T-Virus needs a body with residual neural activity, the bodies of the buried would have been dead for weeks. Furthermore, the T-virus would have to have been in direct interaction the a corpse, which are in sealed caskets inside a concrete chest.
