A sentimental comb story, old friends and a musician on the brink of discovery.

A famous musician drops into a local studio and meets a musician who she thinks could make it big...so she addresses an envelope to her agent for him to drop a demo in, only her agent never gets it...the postables do.

A "sentimental comb" story from Norman begins their search for the singer-songwriter.

"I recently had my apartment fumigated."-Serge "I think Serge likes you."-Norm

Special guest Valerie Bertinelli, plays Shane's best friend from when she worked in DC and she is a breath of fresh air as well as the voice of reason for Shane.

The musician lost more than his demo tape on the night he seemed to go missing...

This is another romantic tale and a beautiful reunion brought about by the postables.

[Talking in the Mailbox Grille, not realizing Oliver is sitting behind Shane]

Rebecca Starkwell: When they said I was going to Denver I was hoping I'd be lucky enough to run into you but the Dead Letter Office?

Shane McInerney: I know, I know, it's crazy but it was a total accident and it's actually, it's actually okay... wait til I tell you about Oliver.

Shane McInerney: [after a cut in the scene, picks up in the middle of the conversation] ... and he's very smart, obviously educated and uh, I don't know, sort of charming in an old fashioned kind of way. He has the weirdest sense of humor. Scratch that I'm not even sure he has a sense of humor, it's more of a, more of a sense of irony really. He goes to church and sings in the choir, he's very generous, fair, stubborn, oh God he is so stubborn Becky. He talks like he expects us to be better somehow. And that's it. Oh and he loves words and...

      Rebecca Starkwell: -And he's married.

Shane McInerney: How did you know?

Rebecca Starkwell: He was at the department meeting, he was the only one in a suit and he had a ring on his left finger.

Shane McInerney: Yes but, uh, his wife left him standing alone in front of the Pony Express exhibit at the Postal museum, moved to Paris and didn't send a forwarding address.

Rebecca Starkwell: So he's married to somebody in Paris. Shaney, Shaney, do you think maybe God's trying to tell you something? Like stop getting hung up on unavailable men?

Shane McInerney: Uh, Steve wasn't married.

Rebecca Starkwell: Yeah but he was never gonna get married. And somewhere in that crazy heart of yours you knew that but you'd still be there waiting for him to grow up if you hadn't been transferred to Denver.

Shane McInerney: That was good timing.

      Rebecca Starkwell: Yes

      [Quickly looks away]

Shane McInerney: Was that you? Did you have me transferred?

Rebecca Starkwell: I love you too much to answer that question.

      Shane McInerney: Becky!

Rebecca Starkwell: Let me just say this. Don't make me transfer you to Seattle.

      [Shane laughs nervously]

Rebecca Starkwell: Are you really interested in this guy?

Shane McInerney: No, no, of course not. We're just friends. I mean we're not even close friends. I did take a couple of dance classes with him as a favor. I do think that he is finally admitting that his wife isn't coming back but, uh, I do see that uh, he hasn't given up hope.

Rebecca Starkwell: Well it's a good thing you're not interested in him right?

      Shane McInerney: Right, right.

Rebecca Starkwell: Well at least now you've recognized what a nice man looks like. Steve was a jerk, go out there and find yourself another Oliver... an available one.

Shane McInerney: Yeah, you know I'm not really sure there is such a thing. You're right, I know you're right, I need to get back into circulation...

Rebecca Starkwell: [a few minutes later after Shane left and Becky paid the bill she turns and sees Oliver] Oliver!

Oliver O'Toole: It was uh, very ungentlemanly of me to remain here where I could overhear your conversation. On the other hand, uh, it would have been just as ungentlemanly of me to stand and make my presence known thereby embarrassing Miss McInerney. I was caught in something of a quandary.

Rebecca Starkwell: You really do talk like that. I won't say a word.

[Starts to leave but then stops]

Rebecca Starkwell: And for what it's worth, that chick in Paris was crazy to leave you!
