Another overrated crime story with gushing reviews plastered all over imdb. I don't know if it's that modern audiences have grown up on lesser quality, or their standards are lower, or they are blinded by flash production values and good looking actors. It's not that this show is necessarily bad, it just isn't very good, it's a mish mash of everything you already saw, with a script full of hammy cliched dialogue and on the nose acting. The lead character has no redeeming qualities, hell if he were at least well drawn and complex we might be able to give him a pass, but there's nothing there to work with, just a wooden attitude with poorly written dialogue. Quite honestly I am going to resign my subscriptions from streaming services. Is this the best we can expect? Hyped up, all style and no substance, weakly developed nonsense with unconvincing main characters. Thanks but no thanks.

This is a serious question that bugs me. I cannot stand it when actors are such narcissists that they can't be normal and instead pretend that his "character" would shave their pita and have a perfect haircut IN PRISON. Annoying. It's OK otherwise- not great. The high reviews are surprising, but it's early.
Sepideh Moafi was the wrong cast. She plays a detective, but this role isn't for her. Mireille Enos in The Killing is an example of a good female detective, or Amy Aquino in Bosch. Moafi is all over the place. She is trying too hard, too emotional for example when she's is not supposed to be.
Because of Moafi the series becomes extremely difficult to watch.

Liotta and Kinear are great. Egerton seems lost in this role. There's never a scene where I don't see his effort at acting. Hauser who plays the serial killer, is terrific. His performance is haunting and complex.
It's an interesting story but the main character is the least interesting thing about it.

The two leads actors and Ray Liotta are amazing. Everything else about this show is nothing better than a midday tv drama. Moves very slowly and so much of the plot seems unrealistic the way it's made out. Can't believe people compare this to True Detective series 1 or how it is rated 8.4. Some of the best tv series of the last 20 years are rated similiar it just doesn't make sense.

It's OK I guess. Watched it out of boredom... handsome ripped lead actor. Quite an ok series but I was glad when it was over and also glad there were only 6 episodes. It just tells the story of one of the aspects in American society which is either an illustration of a paranoid people and coerced confessions from mentally ill... (the bodies were never found). One must ask oneself why is American society paranoid... is it gun culture or amphetamine culture or both? Or that there is just so much open land and so many small towns.? Reminds one of a Salem witch hunt for a serial killer who is possibly just a mentally ill coerced lonely confessor. Is it really that hard to find bodies? CSI makes it look so easy, I guess that's the point (to deter crime).

Mediocre at best. This miniseries has an 8.1 IMDB rating - so it has the same rating as the original Bladerunner? That's crazy talk. It has a higher rating than the Godfather Part III....this series has a great story and the production values are good too - but some of the scenes are laughable - "true" story or not - this gets a "4" in my opinion. The lead actor playing "Jimmy" is miscast but the actor playing Larry is masterful. I will recommend it to watch him - and the story, interweaving the different characters histories and the detectives investigating the case was well done. All-in-all if you can set aside the obvious holes in the story, and go along for the ride, I guess it's ok.

I made it up to 3/6 episodes of this show. I wanted to be interested in it soooo badly but it was so slow and just unrealistic. First of all, basic plot let's send in non violent dude to trick violent dude into confessing his crimes. Cool. Next, no way in hellllll this dude is putting his life at risk when the cops don't even know 100% if the bad guy did what they think he did. They give this dude a way out and he's like nah I'm gonna stay in and probably die thanks anyway though? No way. On top of that the kids poor dad is dying and is bending over backwards for him begging for love and this dude is just so cold to him. Idk the whole thing was just slow on top of it, I didn't feel a connection to anyone or care about anybody. Could have told this shows story in a 20 minute short episode. I wish these reviews didn't trick me every time. ALSO the bad guys voice is sooooo irritating Jesus Christ every time he speaks that alone would make me take the get out of jail card. It got the 4 stars only for the acting.
